Serving Others

A big part of our ministry is helping people help people! We have a lot of ongoing opportunities to serve others but we also want to continue to find ways to be the hands and feet of Christ in our community. What we call "GENEROUS LIVING". Below are some of the ways we currently live generously in our community and beyond.

Serve First

The First Sunday Night of each month our church provides a homecooked meal for the many homeless and needy people in our community. This has turned into a beautiful example of the Body of Christ caring for one another. Good food, meaningful conversation, and new friendships are made. Serve First is held Sept-Nov and Feb-May. To be a part of this ministry contact info@theporchvaldosta.com

Angel Food

Angel Food distribution occurs once each month. The cost is $30.00 for each basic package that includes several balanced meals. Purchasing a box of food for someone who needs it is a great way to be committed to our church's desire to live generously. Order online  www.angelfoodministries.com

Soup Kitchen

On the second Saturday of each month our church is responsible for the community Soup Kitchen. Sunday school classes and other small groups sign-up to provide and serve a great meal to families with small children, homeless persons, and others who are in need of a good meal. This is a great opportunity to sit with people and listen to their stories.

Snack Packs

Each week from our church office window we give out around 160 bag lunches we call "Snack Packs". They contain quick and easy foods like crackers, vienna sausages, fruit cups, a drink, and cookies. This ministry continues to increase and we need donations of food and hands to make the bags.

Missions

Beyond the local missions you have already read about here, we are committed to going out into all the world to share Christ's love. Our youth, young adults, adults, and older adults ALL have mission teams and there is always a mission trip in the plans.
